The
CoastIt isn't possible to visit the area without at least visiting some of the fabulous coast line. It is a rugged coastline with steep cliffs and is dotted with quaint, medieval towns. Some of our favourites include St Jacut-de-la-mer, St Cast-le-Guildo, Sables-d'Or-les-Pins, Pleneuf-val-Andre and the charming harbour at Dahouet. |

Dinan
The ancient ramparts and cobbled
streets in the river port of
Dinan one of France's most attractive walled towns
are well worth a visit. A medieval stronghold
still entirely surrounded by its ramparts and
overlooking the wonderful
Vallée de la Rance,
Dinan is
undeniably one of the most exquisite cities of Brittany.
It sits on the river Rance with the houses of the old
town clustered together behind the ramparts. You
will discover timbered houses, narrow streets, wonderful
eateries, shops and galleries and of course the old
port.

St Malo Walled and built with the same grey granite stone as Mont St-Michel, St Malo was originally in the Middle Ages a fortified island at the mouth of the Rance, controlling not only the estuary but the open sea beyond. It is now inseparably attached to the mainland and from outside the walls, the dignified ensemble of the old city seems stern and forbidding. However go through into the streets within the walls and you find a busy, lively and very characterful town, packed with restaurants, bars and shops. A stroll along the ramparts is not to be missed and the vast, clean beaches right on the city's doorstep are really quite surreal. |
