With its cross country walks, swimming pool, tennis courts, water sports centre, angling and cultural activities you will not be short of things to do. Jugon les Lacs has established a name as an all-terrain biking venue so cyclists are in their element: there are hundreds of km of signposted paths which are divided into 10 routes of different levels of difficulty and distance. You can buy route cards at the Tourist information centre in town or at the sports chalet by the lake in July and August. It is possible to hire all-terrain bikes by the lake in the main season and on Tuesdays and Thursdays you can take a 'supervised' or guided ride with or without bike hire. Walking and rambling are popular activities in the area and again there are well way marked routes and route cards from the tourism office....... and if you want you can walk round the lake (a mere 19kms)! There are both indoor and outdoor tennis courts available. The outdoor court is by the lake and the indoor one is on the lane from our cottage down into Jugon by the all terrain bike track. Enquire at the tourist office to book courts. There are many places in the area to horse ride. The closest is at Plelan le Petit 10 minutes away. Ask at the tourist office for information.
The swimming pool is open air and is seasonal. Please note that French swimming pools do not permit swimming shorts, so men will need to take trunks! There is mini-golf by the swimming pool by the lake. Golf is popular in Brittany and there are 9 golf courses within the Cotes D'armor alone all within easy distance of the cottage. The closest one being the 9 hole course at Corbinais, Saint-Michel de Plelan During July and August there is a system called Cap Armor which is a sort of token scheme. You purchase tickets and can then spend the tickets on a whole variety of activities. Special activities are available through this time and they work out at costing very little such as archery or volleyball or exercise classes, or sailing lessons etc. Ask at the chalet by the lake or in the tourist office. Fishing - Jugon les Lacs is sought after for its extensive, well-kept and regularly restocked network of lakes and rivers. Jugon lake with an area of 70 hectares has shallow shores with 'easy and plentiful fishing' for carp, tench, coarse, perch, pike and zander. To the north is The lake Arguenon it is larger being 250 hectares and offers the possibility of night angling. Here you can coarse fish for pike, roach, common bream, eel and perch. Fishermen and nature lovers should make sure they visit the Maison de la Pêche, which has lots of information and displays about local fishing. They can help with fishing advice and run many activities: nature walks, fishing courses. Fishing permits - Any angler must have a fishing permit. Permits can be bought in various shops and a holiday permit is available (carte de pêche) for people staying in Jugon-les-Lacs for a short period (valid 15 days between June and September).
